Teys Waste-to-Energy Project Takes Out SA Award

Teys Australia have won the Excellence in Innovation: Productivity Improvement Award at the 2019 SA Premier’s Energy and Mining Awards. This award recognises the benefits to the State from delivering greater value from the energy that South Australians use, that is doing more using the same or less energy. Teys Australia, with the assistance of Wiley, developed an exciting Waste-to-Energy Project that harnesses the energy potential of their wastewater treatment plant to produce baseload electricity for their site; converting harmful greenhouse gas emissions into a sustainable, zero-emission fuel.

Wiley delivered the design, installation and commissioning of the highly efficient effluent treatment system. The solution replaced aging wastewater treatment processes, with new pre-treatment and anaerobic treatment, specifically designed for biogas harvesting.

Wiley are proud to share they have delivered a range of projects over the past 20+ years for Teys Australia. These projects are typically of a ‘turnkey’ nature involving design, engineering and construction services. Wiley have conducted work on every facility within the Teys group at some point with works currently underway on three sites.

Teys Australia began when four Teys brothers formed a partnership which was involved in wholesaling and retailing meat in Queensland. They have been involved in the Australian beef industry since 1946 and the family as grown the business to become the second largest meat processor and exporter in Australia.

We commend Teys for their investment towards a more environmentally sustainable futureWiley is proud to have partnered with Teys over the years and we are looking forward to working with them in the future.” Said Wiley Project Manager, David Burton Bradley.
